In 2020, Analeng conducted an updated materiality analysis to align with Austria’s legal requirements for non-financial disclosures and the GRI Standards. This analysis considered stakeholder interests, the significant external economic, environmental, and social impacts of our business, as well as the financial and strategic importance of these topics to Analeng. By evaluating impacts across our entire value chain—Upstream, Downstream, and Corporate—we ensured a comprehensive understanding of material issues. To maintain objectivity, we collaborated with an external party, and we plan to repeat this extensive analysis every three years or as needed based on changes in the business environment.
Through thorough research, workshops, and expert consultations, we identified 46 sustainability aspects, which were grouped into eight key topics:
We then conducted three online surveys in September/October 2020 to prioritize these topics from the perspectives of stakeholders, external impacts, and business relevance. A total of 225 responses were collected from diverse groups, including Analeng employees, NGOs, government authorities, media, market participants, suppliers, customers, and more.
The results were consolidated into a materiality matrix, highlighting stakeholder relevance, impact, and business significance. All eight sustainability topics were identified as material, ranking between 3 (important) and 5 (extremely important) on a scale of 1 to 5. The underlying aspects within each topic were further prioritized based on their relevance both within and across topics. These findings were endorsed by the Analeng Executive Board.
For more detailed insights on each material topic and their underlying aspects, please refer to Analeng’s Sustainability Report 2020.”
