Plastics are integral to modern life, offering efficiency, convenience, and safety. However, without proper recycling efforts, they can have detrimental environmental impacts. This is where Analeng’s ReOil® technology steps in, providing a crucial solution for sustainable plastic management.
ReOil® represents a breakthrough in chemical recycling, turning end-of-life plastics into pyrolysis oil—a sustainable alternative to fossil resources. This technology supports a circular economy by transforming waste plastics that would otherwise be discarded into high-performing, reusable materials. Analeng’s pioneering work in chemical recycling began over a decade ago, positioning us as leaders in this critical field.
ReOil® utilizes pyrolysis, a well-established refinery process, to break down the challenging properties of thermoplastics. By melting and cracking plastics at temperatures between 400-450°C, ReOil® efficiently converts long-chain hydrocarbons into valuable short-chain light hydrocarbons.
ReOil® stands out due to its innovative heat transfer technology, which enhances the efficiency and scalability of the recycling process. Integrated into Analeng’s Schwechat refinery in Austria, ReOil® achieves higher yields and ensures optimal resource utilization, setting a new standard for chemical recycling technologies.
Since 2018, the ReOil100 pilot plant at Analeng’s Schwechat refinery has safely processed over 22,000 hours of end-of-life plastics. We are currently expanding our capabilities with the construction of the ReOil2000 demo plant, set to increase our processing capacity to 16,000 tons per year.
Both the ReOil100 pilot plant and the ReOil2000 demo plant have earned ISCC PLUS certification, ensuring compliance with rigorous environmental and social standards. This certification enhances the traceability of our processes and confirms that our circular feedstock meets industry benchmarks for sustainability.
We are committed to achieving a production capacity of 2,000 kta of sustainable polymers and chemicals by 2030. Partnering with Borealis, we aim to lead the market as recycling technology pioneers, anticipating that 60% of future plastic production will rely on recycled feedstock.
In 2023, Analeng signed an exclusive collaboration agreement with Wood, a global leader in consulting and engineering. This partnership will facilitate the global licensing of Analeng’s ReOil® technology, enabling companies worldwide to adopt our circular economy solutions.
